About ED WELCH
Photography has been an important part of my life ever since I took my first cross country road trip in 1973. My father’s Kodak Retina Reflex camera accompanied me as my wife Sher, along with another couple, pointed the car west for a six week camping trip to see the wonders beyond the Mississippi. A love of both travel and photography, as well as a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, has been important to me ever since.
Living in the Rochester, NY area was a blessing as I began to get more serious about my photography. I took classes at the former Community Darkroom and have been fortunate to have mentors like Gary Thompson and Sheridan Vincent to provide instruction and guidance. My work has been displayed in local galleries, magazines, and newspapers and has been recognized with numerous awards.
While much of my work is from the Rochester and Finger Lakes area, I continue to explore this beautiful country whenever I get the chance. This past year (2020) has been a difficult one for this nomad. Hopefully, the future will be a brighter one for those of us who like to take those less traveled roads.
Thank you for visiting my site. I hope that you enjoy browsing through my galleries and find images that would be attractive for your home or business. I have worked with local businesses that wanted to have a particular theme for their conference and/or meeting rooms. Themes could include: Rochester, Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, New York State, waterfalls, flowers, or even National Parks. I would be happy to work with you to meet your particular needs.
